After retiring as Professor Emeritus, he returned to the University of Fort Hare where he occupied the chair of Philosophy from 1987 until 1992.
He is the author of 16 books and monographs, 22 book-chapters and more than 70 journal articles.
In 1993 Gerhard and Ursula Rauche retired to Lakeside, Cape Town. Sadly, both have passed away, in 2002 and 2005 respectively.
Much more about Gerhard Rauche can be read from his autobiography, Holding on the the Vision, which we shall soon make available through links on this website. In addition, we have a series of short clips from a live interview with Rauche, recorded after his second retirement. An extended discussion by the editor of a comprehensive book on Rauche’s life, work and philosophy is found in the book G.A. Rauche – Selected Philosophical Papers, compiled, edited and introduced by Tobias JG Louw. This is not yet available in e-format.
